When Sign 4’s customer needed an outside directory seen from two different angles, Dan Martin cornered the project with Info Panel from Clarke Systems.

Here’s why:

DM: Our customer wanted two directories, one on each side of a corner of the building, to be seen from two different angles. We came up with a “corner wrap.”

The customer had multiple tenants and wanted to be able to change the directory as needed. They also wanted a small, co-coordinated directory located adjacent to the building entrance.

DM: Typically we use the Slatz System from Clarke for interior jobs so we can pop in and pop out what the customer needs. This was the first time we had to do one of this size outside - six feet tall by 52 inches long on each side. We knew Clarke Systems had an interchangeable panel system for exterior signs.

Dan chose Info Panel -- generally used for free standing post & panel signs -- for the job. Developing his own mounting system, he used three square poles with flat caps for vertical support and 15 “word bars” on each side. He painted the aluminum components electrostatically to match the finish on the window trim of the building.

DM: Our initial concern was vandalism. This is a high traffic area. We felt that if the signs were attacked with graffiti, we wanted to be able to make repairs without redoing the whole sign. That’s the beauty of the interchangeable components and of using vinyl lettering. So far, so good.

Why else did he choose Info Panel?

DM: We wanted something more high end looking. We could have built it out of lesser, prefab material, but cheaper would have looked cheaper. The sign system looks good, it is interchangeable which the customer likes and it was not outrageously expensive.
